The first annual session of the 112th General Assembly ended late Wednesday night, marking important wins for the Tennessee pharmacy community. Most notable was the passage of SB 1617 / HB 1398 by Senator Shane Reeves and Representative Esther Helton. This TPA-supported comprehensive pharmacy benefit manager (PBM) reform bill was highly debated throughout the entire session and was passed thanks to our wonderful sponsors, Speaker Cameron Sexton, Lt. Governor Randy McNally, and YOU. Your tireless grassroots efforts in communicating the need for this bill to your local legislators made all the difference. When signed by the Governor, most sections will go into effect on July 1, 2021, with one exception noted below.
